Vpaste Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 18, 2026
This policy describes Vpaste 1.0.0 for macOS. Vpaste is designed as a local-first clipboard history app. The app does not require an account and does not send your clipboard history to the developer or to a Vpaste server.
Information the app handles
When clipboard monitoring is enabled, Vpaste can read the content types you choose to save, including text, rich text, images, and file references. It also stores local metadata needed to present and manage history, such as the source app identifier, copy timestamps, copy count, pin state, and your Vpaste preferences and shortcuts.
This information is used only to provide clipboard history, search, filters, previews, pinning, copying, and pasting on your Mac.
Storage and transmission
Clipboard history is stored locally in Vpaste's macOS app sandbox. App preferences are stored locally through macOS preferences. Vpaste 1.0.0 contains no account system, cloud sync, remote analytics, advertising SDK, or automatic crash-report upload. The app does not transmit clipboard history off your Mac.
Opening a website, feedback link, or system settings link from Vpaste hands that destination to macOS and your browser. Activity in the browser is governed by the destination's own privacy practices and is separate from clipboard history stored by the app.
Retention and controls
By default, Vpaste keeps up to 200 unpinned history items. Pinned items remain until you unpin or delete them. You can:
- clear unpinned history or clear all history;
- delete individual items;
- pause clipboard monitoring;
- choose which clipboard content types are saved;
- ignore selected apps, pasteboard types, or regular-expression matches; and
- optionally clear unpinned history when Vpaste quits.
The clear-on-quit option is off by default. Clearing Vpaste history does not clear the current system clipboard unless you separately enable that option.
System services
Vpaste may use macOS Accessibility access to perform a paste action, notifications to show local feedback, and the system Launch at Login service when you enable it. These services are used on your Mac and are not used by Vpaste to collect information for advertising or tracking.
App Store privacy
Vpaste does not track you. Clipboard history retained only on your Mac is not collected by the developer. The final App Store privacy answers will be reconciled against the exact submitted build before release.
This website
The Vpaste pages are hosted on GitHub Pages as part of violinmeng.github.io. The existing site configuration loads a Google tag. GitHub and Google may process ordinary web request or analytics information, such as IP address, browser details, and page activity, when you visit these pages. The website cannot access Vpaste's local clipboard database.
Support and privacy questions
Use Vpaste Feedback to contact the maintainer. GitHub Issues are public, so do not include clipboard contents, passwords, private files, or other sensitive information. A dedicated support email will be added before publication.
